Mrs. Templin’s 7th grade  language arts classes went on a field trip to the Guthrie on  December 17th.They read the book in class and decided to go to the play, because it “brings the story to life for them and a lot of students wouldn’t get the opportunity to go to the theater if we didn’t” Templin said. Cannon Falls had been doing this even before Mrs. Templin came and it is one of their only field trips for 7th grade. Some of the seventh grader’s favorite characters from the book and the play were Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, Future ,and Marley along with Scrooges housekeeper Mary Weather. Jason Hanka said “ The Carolers … were a good addition because it really showed that most of London was in the Christmas Spirit.” The special effects are through the roof on the Guthrie’s A Christmas Carol with steam coming out of the stage, the houses rotating, and the ghost of Christmas future emerging out of the ceiling. Elliot Bowman says “Truthfully, the Guthrie Theater’s adaption of  A Christmas Carol was the greatest theatrical performance I have ever seen.”
