The Bomber Dance Team kicked off the official beginning of the 2016-2017 season with the first practice of the year on October 24th. Planning for the season started way back in the spring, when the team held tryouts and the JV and varsity teams were announced. Over the summer, the girls have been working at bootcamp to improve their skills through cardio, strength, and flexibility training. In the weeks before practices started, captain’s practices were held and the choreography committee started working on creating a unique, captivating dance.

On Saturday, November 12th it was finally time for the BDT to reveal their out-of-this-world routine to the community for the first time. Before the bleachers filled with adoring fans, the BDT was at the school, early in the morning teaching clinic participants dances that the team choreographed themselves. Later the kids were given the opportunity to perform the routines for their parents at the show. The myriad of fans were also delighted with performances from Tartan and Faribault JV and Varsity teams, as well as shows from the Just For Kix groups.

Of course, the highlight of the evening was when Cannon’s very own Bomber Dance Team hit the floor and wowed the crowd. This year’s dance is space themed, so fans got to channel their inner sci-fi nerds and reminisce over their childhood dream of walking on the moon, while they cheered on the dancing space cadets.

The captains this year are Emma Samuelson, Kendra Lecy, Brooke Kimmes, and Grace Hall. Lecy expressed her enthusiasm for the season ahead by commenting “I thought fall preview was a great start to our season. The season has been good so far and I’m excited for this year. I think we’ll have a successful season.”
