BDT medal count up by two

The Bomber Dance Team traveled to Austin, Minnesota on Saturday the 8th to compete in the 1AA Section tournament. The girls competed in both kick and jazz, taking home a first place win in the High Kick division. “We went into sections as confident as we could with big goals,” stated Krystin Anderson. “Taking home the gold was definitely the initial goal. We gave it everything we had and had a wonderful performance and did the dang thang!”

Saturday February 15th 2:25pm. The Bomber Dance Team stands in the shoot of the Target Center waiting to dance. The coaches and captains are giving their pep-talks, everyone is excited. It’s a whole new level of competition, it’s a different experience. 11 straight years the dance team has been going to state. The Bombers danced their hearts out and moved on to finals. Even Though  the announcer only waits a couple of seconds before announcing the top 3 teams, it feels like a decade. The Cannon Falls Bomber Dance Team placed 3rd in class AA at State! In fact, they are the only single A team to be moved up a class and advance to finals, let alone receive a medal at final awards! “The fact that we placed our first year moving up to class AA still leaves me speechless.” states Senior Captain Kelsie Beissel.

All Tournament Kick (which is nominated by your teammates) went out to Kelsie Beissel and Krystin Anderson. All State Kick (nominated by your coaches and selected by Minnesota Association Dance Team) Kelsie Beissel and Brooke Stein. All State Jazz: Lindsey Skaggs. These girls that were selected for All State have an opportunity to learn a dance in that category along side other dancers in all classes and later that day perform it for fans.

“We got to show everyone what the BDT is made of, had some wonderful success, and

we got to do it all together as a big family that we are, and it couldn’t have gotten any better than that

— Krystin Anderson

we got to do it all together as a big family that we are, and it couldn’t have gotten any better than that.” commented Anderson.  “Between 1st and third, it was 8 points! We were 4 points behind Sartell meaning we were 8 points behind Totino Grace.” says Beissel. The girls were able to pull out their highest score from a single judge in the entire history of the BDT and to the AA tournament. 92 points, from one judge, out of 100 points. “When I think about it, I feel a great sense of accomplishment for this team.” stated Anderson. Junior Captains Brooke Stein and Liz Freeberg have big plans for next season. “To focus a lot more on kick technique, height and timing. Also to look like a whole team and all be the same.” says Stein. With the new season right around the corner, everyone is excited to see what the BDT can do. “We definitely got class AA worried for the 2014-15 season.” stated Beissel. Only losing 3 seniors: Krystin Anderson, Kelsie Beissel, and Sheyanne Bowyer; the team is staying young. With such a young team the BDT will definitely be a strong contender in the upcoming year.
