Kicking as one, the Bomber Dance Team pulls off a much-practiced feat.

The Bomber Dance Team’s success this year can only be described as astronomical. For the past month the girls have been busy perfecting their space-themed routine, battling other teams for the win at competitions, and giving back at community performances.

On December 5th the team star trekked to the Faribault Community Performance, where the admission charged to fans was one donation item for the St Vincent De Paul food shelf. Only five days later on December 10th the girls competed at Fridley.  They were ecstatic to take 1st in the kick category, and 3rd in jazz.

It’s always great being able to perform in front of our home crowd

A week later the BDT was supposed to have a competition at BOLD, however due to bad weather concerns the meet was postponed to January 2nd. When the competition finally did transpire, the Bombers were announced third in both jazz and kick categories.

How do you host a dance competition? You planet. Once again the team demonstrated good will at their home meet on January 14th. Instead of using all the profits made by admission fees to pay for team expenses, a portion of the money was donated to cancer research. “It’s always great being able to perform in front of our home crowd and even though it wasn’t our best performance it was a great opportunity to see how we stacked up against Randolph since they are our largest competition in our section in both kick and jazz categories,“ commented junior captain Brooke Kimmes.

Junior captain Grace Hall also had positive outlook on this year’s dance season. “The season is going really well and we are improving every competition with hard work at practice. We are so close this year and have a lot of fun! I’m so excited where our dances will take us in the next weeks. Hopefully to state! (Knock on wood!)”
