Faithful to the flag

It’s six in the morning, an unusual wake up time for students who only have to be at school before eight, but on September 22 was a little different. Karina Ritzman heads out the door by 6:30 so that she can make it to school by seven, and meet up with Michael Monson, Carlton Lindow, Karl Trost, and Katherine Hoffman. These students all are FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) huddle leaders, student leaders in FCA, and are at the school before seven for a reason, and that’s to meet other students at the flagpole to pray for our school, our community, our leaders, and our world.

See you at the Pole (as it’s called) is a big event around the world, and according to Karina, “See you at the Pole is a worldwide event where students gather around their schools’ flagpoles and pray. We pray for our nation, school administrators, coaches, friends and family, and for the world.” This event wouldn’t be anything if it wasn’t for FCA, according to Karina, “FCA is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It unites two passions, faith and athletics, to impact the world for Jesus Christ. They do this by running huddles, and many youth and teen camps, as well as ministry for coaches and athletes.”

“FCA always has events coming up!” exclaimed Karina, “Right now we have Fields of Faith on October 7, and we have events all year long on Sunday afternoons. A good way to stay updated on our events is to follow our Twitter @CannonFallsFCA”.

These students don’t have to get up at six every morning, but they choose to. Not only out of faith, but these students care about their community, their coaches, their friends and families, and the entire world.
