Student Council Madness

Student Council plans a host of activities for this spring

As the school year winds down, the Student Council remains a strong presence within the school and community. Due to spring sports and their need for certain facilities, the annual March Madness (or Spring Madness) basketball tournament will take place in the field house once the nice weather and melting snow beckons all sports outdoors for the year. Further information about this event will be released as April gets underway. Spearheaded by the Student Council Secretary, Lauren Lecy, the second annual middle school Girl Talk will be taking place on Thursday, March 27th. While the girls enjoy morning lectures and activities, the middle school boys will spend their morning listening in on a lecture from a CFPD officer as well as spending time in the field house doing class bonding gym activities. Both groups will cover bullying vs. being mean, thinking before speaking and acting, cyber bullying, and harassment – what it is and how it’s perceived by others.

On Friday, April 25th, the Student Council will host a Parents Night Out at the elementary school. Parents of children in preschool through 5th grade will be encouraged to drop their children off between the hours of 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and have a night to themselves. The council is working really hard to ensure the safety of all children during that time through safe snacks, fun (but safe) activities, and list of qualified council members and responsible adults. The council will also be working closely with local eateries, trying to secure discounts that will benefit both the Council and local business alike.
