The boys basketball season is underway here at Cannon Falls High School! The season officially started with the Bombers traveling to play an improving Hayfield Vikings squad in which the Bombers were victorious by a score of 58-33. Led by senior Zach Siebenaler with 18 points and 13 rebounds along with sophomore Ryan Dircks who had 12 points. Over Thanksgiving break while many ate mounds of food and enjoyed days off, the basketball team kept their nose to the grindstone. On November 28th, a Saturday night, the Bombers hosted Faribault Bethlehem Academy and were again victorious in that game, this time by a score of 71-41. Led by senior captain Tanner Carlson, who had 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists and senior center Zach Siebenaler who scored 18 points along with grabbing 9 rebounds.

The slow start to the second half proved costly

Most recently the Bombers traveled through the snow and sleet to play Northfield, the #5 ranked team in class AAA. Although seen as insurmountable underdogs, the Bombers played their hearts out, and as a result left all of the Northfield players and spectators aghast, because with 1:21 seconds remaining in the game the small town Cannon Falls Bombers were down by 4 and possessed the momentum. Ultimately, the Bombers didn’t have enough in the tank and fell to Northfield by a score of 56-52. “The slow start to the second half proved costly,” said coach Josh Davisson. Led by Carlson, who had 21 points, including 5 three pointers. Siebenaler had 11 points and 9 rebounds. “When we play together as a team, and play defensively as well as we did, then we can compete with just about anybody!”
