The Seniors strut their stuff at the talent show

Talent show

The Cannon Falls HS/MS students all know that the best part of homecoming week is the chaos. The students get shortened class time and some days an entire class may be replaced with activities. Not all students are athletes or football fans, but that doesn’t mean the youth aren’t excited for the the game. Plenty of us participate in extracurricular activities, and those of us who aren’t usually in sports try to participate in other activities to exercise our strengths and skills. The braver of the students broadcast their skills in the homecoming display.

Cannon’s Got Talent, brought to you every year by student council, is a way for the students and staff to express themselves or serve excitement to the audience in honor of homecoming week. For those who have talent, we love to see it in our annual Cannon’s got talent. We had some talented singers performing with wonderful accompaniment. One duet, seventh grader Cannon Quade singing and senior Grant Schlichting playing the piano, was complimented with a standing ovation after their performance had completed. Cannon definitely possesses a capacity for art. Those who are shy but gifted should be encouraged to perform in the future. Lots of peers were stunned when they heard freshman Conor Salmonson, an otherwise reserved student, sing for the first time on stage Monday afternoon. Most people know Conor to be pretty quiet. During the beginning of the song, Salmonson had only played the piano while freshman, Kressin Hartl, sang. Throughout the song the audience was soothed by Hartl’s singing but Salmonson left the crowd in shock after hearing him sing. If you’ve got timid friends who deserve the spotlight, encourage them to sign up for Cannon’s Got Talent 2018. The students and staff would love to see them on stage.
