Cannon Falls Theater has been losing numbers throughout the years, and this year was no different. The theater was planning on having more actors so they could do the show, The Drowsy Chaperone, but after initial auditions, they realized they wouldn’t have enough. In the end, they dropped the previous show and put on a different one: The Princess and the Pea.
On November 21 and 22nd, the Cannon Falls Theater performed The Princess and the Pea. It was an amazing performance that many people would agree on. Lily Nelson, a junior who saw the play, gave a review of the performance. “I think the new sixth graders performed really well for their age, and it was interesting to watch,” Nelson said.
The costumes, the stage, the acting, and the lighting were all fascinating to watch come together. The cast and the roles consisted of Tucker Nobach as the prince, Willow O’Gorman as the queen, Henry Nygaard as the king, Hades Kammerude as Hannah, Anya Nygaard as Gillian, Axel Lundell as the jester, Danika Smith as the Minister, and the ensemble consisting of Joselyn Springer, Phebe Lundell, Kira Manning, Livette Webb, Elsie Karlstad, Amanda McDonald, Leo Nygaard, Nora LaFollette, and Charlotte VenOsdel.
Along with the play, the theater tried something new this year. They held a royal fun fair before both of their shows. From 5:45 to 6:45, right before their performances at 7, the royal fun fair was hosted for actors, under their characters, to interact with the audience members. It was a cool experience for younger kids to meet and have fun with the characters.
These people went through tough rehearsals to put on a phenomenal performance for everyone watching. “The directors made a good choice for the musical this year; it was fun to watch,” junior Molly Beebe said.
The directors, Anna Broring, Cannon Quade, and Michelle Braun, have put blood, sweat, and tears into perfecting this musical, and it paid off in the end, as many people would agree.
