Ever since Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde became partners, they’ve been unstoppable. Even though they’ve been serving justice, they’re leaving a mess behind in the city of Zootopia, disturbing many of the citizens and embarrassing the police force. This leads to their partnership being questioned by many to the point where they might have to split. However, when they find out that there is a reptile loose in the streets of Zootopia, they interpret this as a shot of redemption. But this will only lead them down a twisting path that puts their partnership to the test.
Zootopia 2 was released on November 26th, 2025, almost a decade after the first movie came out. For years, fans had been speculating whether there would be a sequel to Zootopia, and if there was, they made theories about what it would be about. These theories were all correct, as many of them theorized that Judy and Nick’s partnership would be questioned and that they would dive deeper into the history of the city of Zootopia. It was surprising that most of the theories were correct, but what was more shocking was the darker tone of these concepts. The film strained Judy and Nick’s relationship by placing them in life-or-death situations that tested their loyalty to each other.
The plot was shocking, as it was revealed to be centered around reptiles, especially since there were none in the prequel. Some said that including reptiles in the second movie didn’t make much of an impact on the plot, but adding reptiles gave the film more personality. Reptiles did end up making a significant impact on the movie as they shed more light on the history of Zootopia. A few of the reptile characters also helped heal Judy and Nick’s strained relationship.
Many of the characters were voiced by celebrities such as Shakira, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Ed Sheeran. Fans enjoyed Zootopia 2 much more when they identified these voices, and they thought it improved the quality of the film. The addition of new characters was refreshing, and it made the movie more eye-catching. Almost everyone enjoyed the jokes and humor that were integrated throughout the entire film, but some of them were a bit corny or dry. Some thought that the film was lacking and that they couldn’t really catch what kind of message the film was portraying. Viewers also thought that many of the newly added characters were annoying or didn’t bring anything to the movie.
Zootopia 2 did seem to lack a little in some spots, but overall, it is a fantastic film that answers many questions that were left unanswered before. Fans got more insight into Judy and Nick’s relationship and how it will be built on in the future if there is another film. And the shock of including reptiles in the film definitely caught many people off guard, but it was a nice touch to the film as they taught the audience the truth about the city of Zootopia. It is unclear if there will be a third movie in production, but even if there isn’t, Zootopia 2 would be a good spot to close the book on Zootopia.
