The due date for the Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy essay is arriving around the corner.

There is an essay contest for middle and high school. The middle school, grades 6-8, are allowed to write an essay from the Patriot’s Pen and the high school, grades 9-12, are allowed to write an essay on the theme “America: Where do we go from here?” from the Voice of Democracy. The essay must be turned in by October 29 in the office before 3 pm.

This competition is from the Veterans of Foreign Wars’(VFW’s) premier scholarship program. Every year, many school students compete for the $2 million in scholarships and incentives. They are to compete by writing an essay and recording an audio essay according to the theme. The essay is judged by originality, content, and delivery.
