Breaking news for the town of Cannon Falls, Amera Wells, a senior at Cannon Falls High School, has qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics that will be hosted right here in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Wells will be competing in the skeleton competition, an unusual sport for a Cannon Falls native.
Qualifying for the Olympics is no small feat, but Wells qualified with ease. When asked what strategy she used to qualify, she explained her “prolly” strategy. She explained the strategy saying it is “where I don’t really try hard and just hope that I’ll ‘prolly’ make it.” This is no doubt an interesting strategy but needless to say, it worked for Wells.
The Olympics are very exciting for all, and especially for all the athletes involved. Wells commented that she is “most looking forward to demolishing [the] competition…as well as everyone asking for [her] autograph.” Wells showed lots of confidence during her interview especially when it came to her competition, she is confident that she will take home the gold in the skeleton competition. In addition, Aviah Wells, Amera’s sister, added in saying that she was also confident Wells would dominate, but she is jealous of her sister. When Wells wins the gold, it will not only make her the first athlete from Cannon Falls to compete in the Olympics but also to win a gold medal, setting high standards for athletes to come.
During the summer Olympics of 2024, hosted in Paris, France, the chocolate muffins were all the rage. Foodies are now waiting to hear what the new rage will be for the winter 2026 Olympics. Wells believes that the breakout food will be seaweed strips, which she has heard will be making an appearance, definitely an interesting choice for athletes preparing to put up their peak performance.
The 2026 Winter Olympics are definitely going to be one to remember for the citizens of Cannon Falls, due to the participation of our very own Amera Wells. Although the 2026 Olympics are right around the corner, Wells was asked if she would attempt to qualify for the 2030 Winter Olympics. Wells said, “I don’t think I’ll try to be in the 2030 Olympics, but I’ll prolly be in them anyway because they need me. Tune into the 2026 Winter Olympics to watch Cannon Falls High School’s very own skeleton racer Amera Wells, who will no doubt take the gold.
