The cacophony of instruments being tuned and music being rehearsed was especially noticeable when venturing down the band room hallway this past Friday. Jazz bands from Stewartville, Lake City, and Cannon Falls performed for two clinicians at the 2015 HVL Jazz Clinic. This year was the first year ever that Cannon Falls has hosted the event, and it was a huge success. Junior Bjorn Pearson commented on this success by saying ¨…it was nice to be in a non-competitive environment with two spectacular clinicians. I think everyone got good advice.” Each school brought two bands to perform in preparation for solo ensemble contest just a few weeks away.  Playing their final notes and putting away their instruments, the jazz students from each school came away from the day with the tools they need for their future success.
