“Ahhh!” Screams Finn Peterson while being chased by a ghost. The ghost has been living in the IMC for weeks now, and now someone has caught the ghost in action. There have been rumors going around about a ghost living in the IMC but those were just mere speculations until now, when Finn Peterson was chased. There is a logical explanation as to why she was chased which she explained when interviewed. “I saw the ghost a couple of days earlier but wasn’t sure if I was just seeing things or if it was real. So a couple of days later I decided to go back and look for the phantom. Then I found it, coming out of the ceiling tiles,” explained Finn, after finding the apparition. Then, Finn continues on with the story and says “I decided to ask it a couple of questions like ‘what is your name?’ which the phantom responded to by writing ‘Lucy’ on the whiteboard. Then, I asked ‘how long have you been here?’ and it said five weeks. After that I asked ‘why aren’t you talking?’ and she started to chase me. I think I offended her and I don’t think she can talk. I really should have thought about that before I asked; after all, she is a ghost.” After ten minutes of being chased Finn ran into the room with all the other Torchies (the writers for the Torch, the middle school section of the Lantern) and they all decided to band together and chase the apparition out of the school. The Torchies say “This is a normal day in the life while being in the Torch and we don’t understand why it is such a big deal.”

That story was just one of many bizarre events the Torchies have gone through in the past month. For instance, Lola Winchell says “One week ago Isla Harrison disappeared and she wasn’t found for days. They ended up finding her in a secret room located in the school.” The secret room Lola Winchell is talking about was found a couple of days ago. The entrance to this secret room was found in locker 1001 at Cannon Falls Middle and High School. Locker 1001 looked like a normal locker until officers looked a little closer and found a miniature handle. When they pulled on the handle, the whole back of the locker opened and came out. When it opened it revealed there were flashing disco lights and a dance floor.
When the officers walked in they saw Isla Harrison partying. Isla Harrison was escorted out of the secret room and back home, where her family was overjoyed to see her. Isla says “Someone kidnapped me but I don’t know who; they were wearing a mask. All I know is what they said to me. ‘I have noticed that you have been sad and down lately so you are going to be locked in this fun room until you are happy for one week straight.’ Then, the next thing I knew I was locked up. I guess they want the best for me but that is not the way to cheer me up” Isla says. I did have fun and it was kind of cool but I felt so isolated the whole time. I think that it was a trick in a way because it is near impossible to be happy for a week straight and always smile; I think I would have been in there for weeks. I don’t know if that is why they said it or if they wanted the best for me. I am just happy that I am home and safe.” Isla Harrison later thanked the other Torchies for finding and saving her. The officers believe that there was a direct correlation to Isla being in the Torch.
These are just a few of the crazy things that the Torchies have to endure. These types of things typically happen on a day-to-day basis when in the Torch. All the students in the Torch have signed up to take care of the school by solving all the mysteries and maybe even writing about them sometimes. The things the Torchies deal with are things most people don’t even know are happening; they do a great job of keeping all of these adventures and crazy things on the down low.
