Every year, the interact club helps set up the blood drive at Cannon Falls High School in the IMC. This year, that date falls on November 1. Students are encouraged to sign up and donate blood if they are eligible to.
Students who are 16 are allowed to donate blood if they have parental consent. Once students are 17 or older, they don’t need consent and just have to sign up for themselves. All students who are allowed to donate blood also must reach their weight and height requirement, to ensure it is healthy and safe for them to donate. Students can sign up during lunch hour, by seeing Profe Crego in the lunchroom.
Every pint of blood makes a big impact and can save many lives. Every day there are patients who require the transfer of blood to live. These patients can be from a crash or a burn or something even as dangerous as battling cancer and heart surgeries. So the Red Cross really encourages students to step up and help.
