On Monday, March 10, the Cannon Falls speech team took part in the Hiawatha Valley League (HVL) conference speech tournament. Continuing its multi-year streak, the Cannon Falls team won the meet, securing a conference championship. Some of its members also won their individual categories.
Conference champions for the 2025 season from Cannon Falls include Emily Churchill in prose reading, Grace Churchill in poetry, Zane Beck in discussion, Charles Fick in extemporaneous speaking, Lauren Capelle in extemporaneous reading, Tucker Nobach in storytelling, and Lince Otterness in great speeches. Much of the rest of the Cannon Falls speech team took top three in their categories.
The team’s season is drawing to a close as its final invitational tournament is set to take place this Saturday, while its postseason begins in early April.
