Each morning, Cannon Falls High School students reluctantly drag themselves out of bed, still dreaming, and wonder what amount of caffeine could possibly wake them up. On the dreadful drive to school, they pass a few local stores, but few provide them with a solution to their caffeine cravings. Luckily, this past year, Casey’s General Store has brought the convenience of gas, food, drinks, and other goods to Cannon Falls.

Replacing Oasis Market, which went out of business, Casey’s General Store has taken Cannon Falls by storm.  At 1125 Main Street W the lively new store has restored the abandoned area.  Heather Benson, the station’s manager, states that the location was officially opened to the public on December 5th, 2013.  The store has gotten an outstanding response from citizens of the town, especially high school students. Lily French, a CFHS sophomore, raves about their pizza, saying “it isn’t greasy.”

While a plethora of the customers are high schoolers, Benson shares that Casey’s General Store only employs one high school student. Continuing, she explains “our busiest times are in the morning and after school. Although there are no openings at the moment , job-seekers can always apply. Benson says there are always job opportunities in the summer, explaining “it would be store employee of cashiering, kitchen help, and working the sub station.” Austin Heckbarth, a Casey’s employee, agrees with his manager about the high schoolers’ morning and after school activity. Heckbarth states that he likes working at Casey’s, because it is a “happy environment.” He adds that “it’s a great team and we all work together.”

Arguably one of the most popular spots in town, Casey’s was a great addition to small Cannon Falls. Students can stop by at any hour of the day to fill up their vehicles, get refreshments, sit down, and enjoy the welcoming environment.
