On Saturday, January 10th, both of Cannon Falls’ varsity debate teams participated in  one of the hardest section tournaments in Minnesota, with a shot at making it to the state debate tournament.  These two teams consist of Miranda Felton paired with Emma Thomley and Matt Moskal paired with Grant Schlichting. If they were found to be one of the top 6 teams, state would be just a week away. Coming out of the tournament with four wins and one loss, Felton and Thomley earned fourth losing a tiebreaker for third.  Moskal and Schlichting had two wins and three losses, ending the day in sixth place. Felton, a captain of the debate team, concluded, “I’m just proud we made it through. Now I get to prep for state.”  After sections, both the Cannon Falls varsity debate teams could be found vigorously researching, highlighting, and practicing for state, which took place on Friday, January 16.
