Downtown art display

This year’s art show is happening downtown in local businesses’ windows.

Independent Art students will be standing next to their art displays, this Saturday.

Every year, the students of Cannon Falls High School make countless creative masterpieces. In an effort to showcase this artwork, a springtime art show, open to the public, is typically held at the high school. However, this year the high school atrium will not be host to dozens of boards covered in art. Several businesses in town will be displaying art instead. From Tuesday, May 4th to Tuesday, May 11th, over 200 student compositions will be taking up residence in store windows on the block between Highway 19 and Mill Street; 4 Seasons, Lookin Good, Family Salon, Vasa Insurance, Cannon Valley Specialties, and Althoff Hardware are among the local business participants. Additionally, several featured artists are to have independent showcases exhibiting this year’s share of their work. On Saturday, May 8th from 10:30 to 11:15, local folks will have a chance to chat with these students in a “Meet the Featured Artists” showcase. Students have been working hard all year to create artwork worthy of exhibition, and this art show will be the culmination of their success, so be sure to get out and enjoy the exhibit!
