No time like the present. Minnesota Honor Society(MHS) members are hosting another Blood Drive on February 24th. MHS organizes the drive alongside the American Red Cross. With the help of students and staff, the last drive ran smoothly with 38 units of blood donated. Coordinators hope the same goes for this one.
To get high school students and staff at Cannon Falls High School/Middle School to sign up to donate, posters are hung in the school hallways. During lunch periods, MHS members have started to sit at the stand used for concessions–they inform others about the Blood Drive, and allow people to sign up for times there.
Based on the number of units donated, a scholarship is awarded to a student during the spring. It’s also very important that young people donate. With the decline of adults being able to donate, there’s a higher demand for young people to donate blood. Of course, not everyone can donate–but the more that can and end up doing it, the better.
