Ariana Grande has released a new album, entitled Eternal Sunshine, with 13 songs, the most popular being “We Can’t Be Friends” and “Yes, And?”. This is Ariana Grande’s 7th album released; her 6th album was released in 2020 entitled, Positions. Eternal Sunshine was released on March 8, 2024, also known as International Women’s Day. Unlike most of her albums, which are about pain and love, her new album is viewed differently — it’s a story. This new album dives further into Grande’s life. Ariana Grande’s latest album helps fans and non-fans understand Grande better and shows even Grande has been through the same pain and anxiety others have experienced with relationships.
It has been about 4 years since Grande released Positions, and she has come back with a new, personal, album that others can relate to and find out more about Grande’s life. Her album was influenced by the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, as two lovers, Clementine and Joel (played by Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey), erase their memories of each other after a painful breakup but find each other again; similarly, Grande’s album displays the end of a relationship but finding love again. According to Unclear, during an interview with Zach Sang, Grande was also inspired by the Beatles and a few other artists like Brady and Monica’s duet and Justin Timberlake with their songs “Imperfect for You” and “The Boy Is Mine” and the pre-chorus. While referencing a movie and collaborating with other artists she still focuses on her story and the meaning of it but also connects with others.
As much as fans admire and adore Grande’s other albums and their significance, they have fallen in love with Eternal Sunshine. There are many reviews found on Today about Grande’s new album saying, “Eternal Sunshine is Ariana’s dreamiest sounding album I can’t explain.” Another wrote on her YouTube video, “Gonna erase my memory so I can listen to this for the first time again,” probably referencing the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, about forgetting and finding each other again.
Overall Ariana Grande’s new album has hit it off once again better than ever. People will be able to relate to this story told through these beautiful songs and will be able to see, hear, and feel what Grande has been through. As her songs portray her pain and yearning for love, she still finds love and isn’t afraid to call out people who have put relationship trauma on her, as many said that her ex-husband Dalton Gomez put some on her. The ones who have been through the same will agree very much with Grande. Her songs and the meaning of each and every one of them truly make the whole album itself a complete story.
