September 26, 2014
The red carpet unrolls as celebrities fill the hallways with the fall’s hottest trends. Cameras flash as each model strikes their pose. As shocking as it may seem, this is the first week at Cannon Falls High School/ Middle School, not the runway. Many kids come back from summer break exploding in fashion, but by the end of the week it’s all about sweatshirts and t-shirts for most kids. Although Cannon Falls High School is seeing various people dressing to impress, it doesn’t last forever.
Teenagers at Cannon Falls High school describe the clothes they prefer to wear and why they like to dress up for the first weeks of school. Many people like to wear comfortable clothes, but also dress them up with a scarf or a nice shirt such as Emerson Ulrich. “I like to wear leggings that are crazy printed, because they’re stylish, but comfy.” Leggings are often a go to for clothing since they have the best of both worlds. Senior Brooklyn Hanson says, I think people dress up in the beginning of the year because they want to impress people and start their image off strong

Flute player Georgia Hollembeak explains, “I feel like I should try and dress nicer for the first week, but then after that I’m back to yoga pants and hair up.” Hair is much easier to handle when up in a ponytail, especially when fire in a science class is life threatening to all female’s gorgeous manes. Seventh grader Ellie Stodden, expresses that she wore new dresses to show off in the first weeks of school. Not only do people have clothes to show off, but sun kissed skin as well. Cross country runner Payton Cooper describes the clothing she models to make her tan more enhanced. She prefers colors such as white and black. Whether it be comfy leggings, dresses, or sporting a gorgeous tan. The first weeks of school are definitely worth rolling out the red carpet. After all, it is a real eye opener.
