The town of Cannon Falls gathered at CFHS to pack meals.

Feed My Starving Children [FMSC] events are normally held in a facility owned by the company, but not on Saturday, November 11th, 2023. This mobile packing event was held at Cannon Falls High School. The school being close to many Cannon Falls community members made it easier to attend as well as making it a great opportunity for everyone to get involved. By the end of the event, 101,088 meals were packed. These packed meals are enough to feed 276 kids for a whole year.

Everyone in the community was invited to participate in the packing, as well as setting up or taking down stations for the event. There were a few local organizations that participated together: Boy and Girl Scout troops, the Minnesota Honor Society [MHS], and a few churches. “It definitely was a great opportunity for the community and it’s definitely beneficial for everyone to get involved,” said Grace Miller, a participant from MHS. Bringing this event to a small town makes it easier and more available for everyone to participate in it. Normally Feed My Starving Children packings are held in the building the organization owns, the nearest one to Cannon Falls being in Eagan. The organization has various locations, but every year it is brought to Cannon Falls so the community members could help make a difference.

“I felt really good that just a little bit of my time could make such a difference in other’s lives,” stated Grace Miller. This event is mostly held to help make a difference, but it also helps people connect and feel good about what they have done to help. Feed My Starving Children is a fun and hands-on way to help people in need in other countries. “I think the FMSC event is such a great opportunity for the community. You can bring your friends and family, but you also have a great chance to connect with people you might not know well or at all,”  stated Brekken Erickson, a student who participated.  By our community members participating in something like this, it helps bring people together and grow the bonds we have in our community.

Feed my starving children holds many other events like this all year round. Not only do they hold events, but they also raise money for their organization by receiving donations. Additionally,  at their locations, they have small stores where they sell goods — such as jewelry, stuffed animals, and clothing — from foreign villages that revive FMSC meals. Feed My Starving Children helps thousands of people every year and is a great way to get involved and leave a global impact.
