A Minecraft Movie is coming in hot in theaters. Based off the popular action-survival game Minecraft — a game where the world is made of blocks and players can either survive and fight monsters or create and build anything they want — the film contains excitement, humor, and unexpected twists and turns. So sit back, relax, and enjoy some of Steve’s lava chicken.
When A Minecraft Movie trailer came out, many were skeptical about it and thought it was going to be unsucessful. However, things started to turn around before the film came out; it soon gained lots of love and had multiple jokes and a couple of songs surrounding it. The audience made the movie experience better than expected. People have dressed up in costumes such as creepers and diamond armor. Theaters have been selling merchandise such as pink sheep stuff toys and creeper-shaped popcorn buckets.
The characters, plot, and emotions were all great. The film surrounds a jumbled-up group of people — a 1980s video game champ, Natalie and her younger brother Henry, a real estate agent named Dawn, and Steve, who lives in the Minecraft world — as they step through a portal to the world of Minecraft and must save it from doom. They each have an emotional story behind them and unique personalities, such as Steve’s unhingeness and Henry’s quick thinking. The plot was humorous and had many heartfelt moments that most wouldn’t expect from a game like Minecraft, such as Steve’s lava chicken song and Natalie and Henry nurturing their sibling bond.
The film itself was a blast and entertaining. Filmmakers took the game and amplified every detail of the landscape, animals, and creatures. The monsters and animals still maintained their block-like features, but with a more realistic and appealing look for a film. Watching the movie made viewers feel like they were playing the game. The film was expected to be animated, but the live-action film exceeded the expectations of many because of the visuals. The filmmakers did an excellent job of capturing Minecraft’s weirdness and emotion by putting it into a cinematic movie.
The film also made an incredible reference to a well-known Minecraft YouTube player named Technoblade. When Steve and the other protagonists walk through a village, a pig with a crown walks through, which is what Technoblade’s Minecraft skin was. One of the characters asks, “Is that some kind of king?” Steve says in response, “No, that’s a legend.” Fans went wild and were thrilled to see their beloved Technoblade. Technoblade passed away from metastatic sarcoma — a rare cancer that affects the bones and soft tissue — in June of 2022. He was loved and inspired many people, so his death left a huge impact. Many were also excited when they saw another famous YouTube player named Jackspeticeye make a cameo.
A Minecraft Movie was a great film and caught everyone’s attention. Minecraft players especially loved this film as there were multiple connections between the film and the game. A Minecraft Movie brought many people together in the theater and on social media. A Minecraft Movie will be a film many people will remember and will not let its name down.
