On the night of September 24th at 7pm, students and parents filed into the Cannon Falls high school auditorium to witness the crowning of this year’s homecoming king and queen. After the seniors took their reserved seats, the event promptly began. Kressin Hartl set the night off to a good start singing, “I Can Only Imagine”. Jeremy Soine escorted an Austrian foreign exchange student, Lena Stadlinger, as the emcees- Riley Eddy and Kelsie Wilcox-Laurel- read off some information about Lena. Following that, Lindy Edstrom escorted Izzy Souza, a foreign exchange student from Brazil. After they took their seats, court member Sophie Epps sang, “Sunflower.”

At last, it was time for the royalty to come out. The couples are the following: Molly Bowen and Broderick Ulrich, Olivia Thomley and Brodie Hansen, Rachel Huseth and Nathan VanZuilen, Mari Mendivil and Dylan Salley, Sophie Epps and Kendric Banks, Brooke Beissel and Rod Reardon, and Madalynn Lundell and Adam Johnson. Fall sport coaches and athletes of cross country, tennis, cheerleading, soccer, football, and volleyball gave the audience a brief summary of their seasons so far.

Returning court members from last year, Chase Schaefer and Alex Engebretson, crowned this year’s king and queen as the audience looked on with anticipation. Nathan VanZuilen was crowned for the guys and Mari Mendivil received the title for the girls. All court and audience members were elated for the new king and queen.
