Gearing up for winter
The annual winter activities meeting was held on November sixth to help students prepare for their upcoming seasons.
Slackers, save that procrastination for another time. Those who have not registered online for winter activities should get to it. Jake Winchell spoke to students and their parents on November 6th, in the Cannon Falls high school auditorium, to introduce the winter activities. Athletes looking to get involved but aren’t returning for an activity should make a decision quickly. Students cannot participate in their extra curricular until they are registered and paid for. First practices will creep up on you sooner than anyone’s expecting.
There are so many opportunities for Cannon Falls students to get involved. Winter sports are open for anyone and everyone. At the winter sports activity meeting, students had a chance to divide into groups of each sport or activity and meet with their coaches, and both athletes and the coaches themselves seem to be very welcoming and ecstatic to get working. Girls can participate in dance, basketball, and speech. Boys can participate in wrestling, basketball, and speech. Students are a quarter of the way through the year and many are ready to engage in indoor exercise in order to keep themselves busy. Most of the sports and activities available start in the month of November.
Sadly, last season’s activities have come to an end. It’s time for a new start and a new sport. If last year wasn’t a fabulous year for some people, it’s time to jump in with a fresh attitude and a resilient mind. If last year wasn’t the best year, this season can begin with a smile and with a bit of hard work and dedication, all the winter activities Cannon Falls offers have the potential to do great things this year. With the information from the meeting, hopefully each student is prepared for a fantastic season.
