The Cannon Falls girls basketball team season came to a close last Thursday night in their loss against Hayfield. The final score of the sub-section game, 36-75, depicts the end of their tough winter season. The Bomber athletes only won four out of twenty five games, but it’s a huge improvement from last years single victory. Heading into this game, captain and senior, Courtney Woodcock, described the one thing on her mind, “I was thinking that we needed to go out there and just give it our all.”

With Hayfield seeded second and the Bombers seeded seventh, the girls knew that the odds were greatly against them. When Cannon last played the Vikings of Hayfield, they lost 24-63. Hoping for a chance at redemption, the girls strategized their offense and defense to try and slow down the Vikings. Senior Anna Rapp felt proud about the way they played their sub-section game, “We did a lot better compared to the first time. We also worked very well as a team.”

We did a lot better compared to the first time. We also worked very well as a team.

Unfortunately for the hardworking girls, it just wasn’t enough to get that win.
