The girls’ soccer program has continued to climb to new heights this season. Last year, the team added a co-op with Goodhue, in addition to their existing co-op with Randolph. In 2024, they made program history by earning the No. 3 seed in sections, securing the program’s first-ever playoff victory, and finishing with their best record to date at 6-7-2.
This fall, the girls are already surpassing expectations. Just a few weeks into the season, they held a 3-1-1 record, and that momentum carried into a packed Homecoming week. On Tuesday, they earned a commanding 4-1 victory over Stewartville. Two days later, they defeated Pine Island–Zumbrota-Mazeppa 2-0, marking the first time in program history they’ve beat PIZM. For senior captain Kiley Jeppesen and junior Kaeda Rezac, that game stands out as one of the highlights of the season.
The winning streak didn’t stop there. In an early Saturday game, the girls battled Albert Lea in a nail-biter. After falling behind 0-2 in the first 10 minutes, they dug deep and came out on top with a 3-2 victory. With three straight wins during Homecoming week, the team improved its record to 6-1-1, already matching last year’s total wins in just half a season. “I feel very good about the season so far because we are off to a great start with a record of 6-1-1,” said senior captain Kiley Jeppesen. Junior Kaeda Rezac added, “The highlight of the season would be our awesome record.” With only four games left before playoffs, the girls are entering the final stretch with high expectations.
On September 15, the girls beat Red Wing 2-0, securing the most wins in program history and improving their record to 7-1-1. The team is on fire and excited for what’s next. Jeppesen said, “My goal is for our team to keep growing together and continue improving as a team!” Head coach Erika Schwede added “One of my biggest goals for this team is placing first in our section. And I thoroughly believe if we show up and play the way I know we can, that will happen.” With that, these girls are determined and hoping for big things ahead.
