High hopes for a green team

The CFHS softball team begins the season with lots of new faces

The Cannon Falls softball team is starting up their 2016 season with high hopes  of future growth and victories ahead. Although the team is noted as being a younger group, they possess a lot of talent, as is clear to anyone who has seen them play. Taylor Eddy and Brooke Peters are the captains this year, and Peters comments that she feels optimistic about the prospect of future success. “I feel that with having a team with a lot of younger players that we have a lot of room for improvement and there’s a lot of potential there but it could go well if we work hard throughout the season.” she states.

The Bombers played their first game Thursday April 7th on their home field, but unfortunately took a hard loss of 1-12. It’s uplifting to hear that the defeat hasn’t crushed the player’s spirits, however. “It was better than our first scrimmage, so it showed already that we were improving, but there was a lot of basic mistakes that we were making that need to be cleaned up before our next game.” Peters mentions. With positive attitudes producing these sorts of pitches of confidence, it’s no doubt that the season is on it’s way to an upswing of wins.

Their perseverance paid off. On Tuesday April 12th the team headed off to Lake City with the aim to exchange their hard work for a triumph. The girls played sensationally, and after bagging two home runs they ended up defeating the Tigers with a score of 13-11.

Anyone interested is welcome to go watch the Bombers zip around the bases and hopefully run home with another win.
