Insurgent – the trailer
Insurgent fans get a preview of the new movie
Buckle up, Divergent fans! The new Insurgent trailer dropped as an early Christmas gift from director Robert Schwentke and its non-stop, heart pounding action is sure to get anyone pumped for the upcoming movie, which releases in March.
Insurgent picks up where Divergent left off. Tris and her friends are traveling to the Amity, the peace-loving faction, to find shelter in the midst of chaos. Viewers get to see the first glimpse of the serene landscape surrounding the beautiful glass dome where the Amity tenderly care for a massive tree, which is the symbol of their faction. Peace is shattered, however, when trucks transporting Dauntless traitors (Dauntless who have switched their loyalties from Dauntless to Erudite) invade Amity, carrying Eric, former leader of Dauntless. Tris, Four, and Caleb, who are all wearing Amity garb, flee the faction only to come upon another surprise: The Factionless. While the factions have been squabbling over sides in the war, these rejects and misfits have been combining forces and created a faction of their own underneath everyone’s noses. Leader of the factionless is no other than Tobias’ mother who suggests that the Dauntless and the Factionless overthrow Erudite.
While the trailer gives tiny teasers of the film that fans have been dying to see, there is one problem that has Divergent-lovers in a tizzy: the box. The trailer opens with an ancient looking metal box sitting on a pedestal with the faction symbols covering each side. Then the camera shifts to Jeanine, leader of Erudite, and she says that she needs to open the box and the only way she can do it is if she has the perfect Divergent. So naturally, she starts hunting down each and every Divergent. She realizes after some trial and error that Tris is the Divergent she is searching for. In the book, Tris gets hints of what is so called “the truth” and wonders if it is what her parents died for, let alone what Jeanine is fighting so hard to protect. Tris has to decide to betray everyone she trusts in order to know the truth. Each plotline is equally incredible, however, and will come to the same jaw dropping end. Other items have been added to the movie that were not present in the book like a mysterious character named Edgar, played by Jonny Weston, who is rumored to be in a love triangle with Four and Tris.
Despite the minor changes from book to movie, Insurgent is sure to be a blockbuster hit. Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller and the other talented cast members bring Insurgent to life on March 20th.
