As another year comes and goes, so does another 5K. “This year was a huge success,” Says Robin Nelson, the junior class advisor. “We were so thrilled with how it turned out. We had more people than we anticipated and they loved the route chosen. Next year we will be trying for a color run.” Even though the Bomber Blast is a fun way for fundraising and hanging out with friends, there were still some people who worked hard to win.

Mason Grimes, winner of the 5K student category and local junior says, “It was unexpected but I was happy to win it. The gift card to Dudley’s was a great surprise but I felt others worked harder for it. But always keep trying and always run if you have the time. We also raised about $3,000 dollars so it’s a start.”

Coming in second place, Holman Mariño, the Colombian Amity spanish teacher, won first place for the adult category with the prize of a free wine tasting for four at our local winery. Holman says, “I feel good because I think that it is a good achievement. There were a lot of students in the race so I thought second place was good for me. I like my prize because it is a good way to share with my host family and I can learn so much about the winery. Exercise is a good way to take care of your health, so run!” The 5K had a good turnout, and hopefully next year will be a better one as Cannon Falls attempts its first ever Color Run. So mark your calendars because you’ll be ‘dying’ with excitement!
