“Something is coming. Something that is hungry for blood. What will you choose Will? Fireball or protection spell?!?” “Are you crazy? I would have to roll a 13 or higher!… I rolled a seven. The demogorgon… it got me.”

Directed by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things is a Science Fiction/Horror television show taking place in 1983 that is creeping across the nation. After a long game of Dungeons and Dragons with his friends ending in the death of his team based on his decision, young Will (Noah Schnapp) bikes home alone only to see something strange. The power of his light and the surrounding post lights suddenly go out and something appears on the road in front of him. Will crashes into the nearby woods and makes a dash to his house, only to disappear from the face of the earth. At the same time a young girl named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) escapes from a nearby research facility and runs into Will’s friends, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb Mclaughlin) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) with whom she connects with the most. Will is declared missing by his mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder) and his older brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Soon there are three teams searching for Will- Joyce and the sheriff, Chief Hopper (David Harbour), Mike’s posse and Eleven, and Jonathan with Mike’s older sister, Nancy (Natalie Dyer). Along the way all the groups battle with jealousy, love affairs and finding out what exactly came out of that research facility.

Overall I would rate the series a 7 out of 10. The succession of events flowed smoothly from episode to episode which always has a cliffhanger at the end, and leaves a desire in the viewer to watch the next episode. I ended up finishing the first season in a span of three days. On the other hand there were many scientific viewpoints that left the audience slightly confused with the physics behind the actions that take place. But the character development is huge as it messes with the character’s mind, bending and distorting all of what they thought was real into an alternate universe.
