Life in the Fast Food Lane

Milling around the cafeteria, students wonder if it has gotten quieter. Well it has. Ever since seniors have gotten the privilege of open lunch, students have either been going out or going home, such as senior Kelsie Beissel. “During open lunch I just go home since I live four minutes away”, notes Beissel. This sure makes many seniors stomachs churn dreaming of mom’s lasagna. When asked whether she goes with friends or not she quotes, “I just go by myself because that way I don’t have to waste money on food at fast food places that is also offered at my home. The other reason I go by myself is so I don’t have to share my food”, Beissel comments. ‘Nuff said.  Any senior would jump at the opportunity of getting away from the madness of high school and, although, open lunch is exciting the privilege can be taken away as easy as it is given.

“The open lunch privilege can be taken away if there is a tardy or inexcusable absence. If you receive one tardy you blow your opportunity of having open lunch” says Beissel. That means that the senior slides no longer slide. Open lunch is an innovative idea that promotes seniors to be prompt and prepared. If seniors obey these regulations they will be able to experience the benefits of being a senior. According to Kristen Anderson, “It’s cool that we’re able to make fun plans for lunch to somewhat break up our hectic days.  It has made my high school experience much less stressful and more fun as I am able to take a nice break in between my classes.” With the stress that comes with the end of the year seniors relish in the opportunity for freedom. Open lunch is a great time for the seniors and the hearing of students who stay at lunch everyday.
