While waiting to be called into the auditorium, many people were chatting with others, as the nerves began to creep up on them. Everyone was so excited to have their first concert, finally. Although the bright lights and restless audience can be intimidating, they managed to stay calm and organized. After waiting, they could finally go into the auditorium to perform.
On October 25, Mike Legvold led the Middle School and High School band, while Michelle Schroeder led the Flute Choir. This was the band and choir’s first concert of the year. To start the night off, the Flute Choir played “My Shepherd Will Supply My Head” by Isaac Watts and Amy Rice-Young. It was followed by the sixth-grade band playing “Cadets On Parade” by Joseph Compello. The seventh and eighth-grade band played “Young Lions” by Mike Hanickel, “Soul Swinger” by Gerald Sebesky, and “Monster Rock” by Tom Molter. The high school band played “Highland Echoes” by Larry Daehn and “White River Canyon” by John Higgins as the songs to end the night. All of the bands that performed on October 25 had worked extra hard to make all the songs they played sound good and a sight to see. Fans can’t wait to see the band play in the winter concert.
The middle school and high school choirs also performed on Friday, October 25. They put on a very successful first concert to a nearly full auditorium. The choirs were under the direction of a new teacher this year, Anna Broring. The sixth-grade choir started the evening with two songs; “Chicken on a Fencepost” by Greg Gilpin and “Teach Me the Blues” by Kirby Shaw. The middle school choir performed three songs; “Laudate Dominum” by Jerry Estes, “Just Believe” by PinkZebra, and “Windy Nights” by Cynthia Gray. There were two soloists during the song “Just Believe”. The soloists were Anya Nygaard, an eighth-grader, and Karina Jandro, a seventh-grader. The high school choir also performed three songs to end the concert; “Bambalela” by Ruth Morris Gray, “His Truth is Marching On” by Carl J. Nygard, and “Nobody Love” by Matthew Chalmers. Three ninth-grade choir members were selected to perform a solo during the song “Nobody Love”. The ninth graders were Kellan Showers, Hannah, and Ashlyn Davis. All of the choirs have been working super hard and their hard work paid off.
Overall, the band and choir concerts were a huge success. There were many excited viewers in the audience, and they got to enjoy a great show. After the performances, everyone realized that it was okay to be nervous as everything went well regardless. Hopefully, the next concerts will go even better than the first.
