The morning at Cannon Falls High School will be different than usual on April 30, 2025. Hosted by SADD and enacted by Cannon Falls Emergency Response, there will be a mock crash starting 3rd hour. All of high school will be excused to watch the crash, and it will be located at the front of the school. Students Against Destructive Decisions(SADD) hosts the mock crash every two years and assigns the roles in the crash. Cannon Falls EMS, Cannon Falls Police, Goodhue County Sheriff, MN Highway Patrol, and Life Flight will all be involved with the mock crash to make it appear more realistic.
A mock crash is a fake crash, where students and emergency response officers act out what would happen if an actual car crash occurred. There is always one student who ends up “deceased” and multiple students as “survivors” or other roles in the crash. SADD holds a mock crash to show high school students how serious car crashes are and the consequences of driving recklessly. Along with the mock crash, the school often pitches in by acting as if the student is truly dead during the day, with fake posters, announcements, etc. Ultimately, Wednesday morning will be quite different than other mornings in the week.
