As the students walked into class the first day back from summer break, they were immediately in shock. The classroom itself looked so much more colorful. Then as the teacher introduced herself, they had a hunch that this year was going to be fun and that they already liked her. Mrs. Broring is the new choir teacher and she is bringing something new to the choir for the students this year.
Mrs. Anna Broring is the new choir teacher after Mrs. Franke left. As she told many of her classes “It’s pronounced like boring with an extra r” (her last name). She is a very energetic teacher, and Addison Wetterlund agrees. Her teaching style is incredibly different from the past teachers; her style is energetic and songs are fun. Wetturlund said that she is not used to her teaching style, but will warm up to her eventually.
Mrs Broring has taught at 2 districts previously, making Cannon Falls High School-Middle School her 3rd. She said that one of her favorite things about Cannon is how many clubs it has, and all the opportunities. She said ”One way Cannon Falls sticks out to me is that it’s bigger than my other 2 districts, meaning there are more things for students to get involved in. I am impressed by the excellence shown through all the different clubs and activities.” One of these activities is theater and Mrs. Broring is the new vocal director for the musical. She has felt very welcome from the staff and students combined and they have helped her with all she needs.
The songs for the concert are all energetic but nice and pretty at the same time. Mrs. Broring is planning on having a good experience for her and the students. She also said “My job as a choir teacher is to create positive musical experiences for my students, and if we work as a team, I know we can achieve that!” She is making the choir classes more fun by having fun warm ups, and letting the students play just dance on Fridays.
So in conclusion, the choir students are excited about this year and so is Mrs. Broring. Mrs. Broring’s teaching methods are definitely different from what these students are used to, but it will hopefully be a fun year full of singing. Lots of students have been trying to get their friends who aren’t in choir to join. Telling them it will be so much more fun because Mrs. Broring is such a fun teacher.
