The kindhearted lunch ladies serve various types of lunches every day at Cannon Falls high school. As most students walk through the line they don’t really think about what kind of quality food they are getting or how the school lunches compared to others. The lunch ladies at Cannon Falls High School consider this job more than a mundane task and really have a passion for their occupation.

When asked what is different about Cannon Falls schools lunch from other schools, lunch lady Dona Fox explained:“Variety.” Fox stated that,“Our salads and raw vegetables that are served every day make us stand out,”. The school also has top of the line products such as Ferndale hot dogs. These hotdogs are exceptional because they are fresh, local, and organic. Besides the outstanding lunches that are served everyday another benefit, according to lunch lady  Fox, is that all of the lunch ladies get along and work well together.

Susan Rolfes, who works at ala carte, said that the extra snacks have been one of Cannon’s biggest successes. Rolfes has been working at the ala carte for eleven years and enjoys every minute of it. When asked about the success of ala carte Rolfes exclaims, “I think it keeps getting bigger and better.” More importantly Rolfes enjoys every minute of her job because of the people she is surrounded by: “My favorite part of my job is seeing the kids and talking to them.” When asked what is sold the most Susan would have to say banana bread, but it no replacement for the cookies that the school used to have. Rolfes describes that, “If it has too much sugar in it then we can’t sell it.”

These lunch ladies do their  best to serve the kind of food the student’s hearts desire. The school gets top of line products while still maintaining a healthy balanced meal. Their role of being a lunch lady is more than just a mundane task. It’s what makes them happy. Always remember to say thanks to a lunch lady.
