On the run again
Cross country team begins their season
The cross country season is off and running, literally. The first competition was held on September 1st, and the season is now in full stride. At every cross country event, the runners run a 5k, which is 3.1 miles. Competitions take place on open air courses and they run on natural terrain; courses range from rolling hills to golf courses.
Everyone thinks cross country is just a bunch of running, but according to senior captain Cobie Vagts, it’s more than just that. “The cross country team is awesome to be on because it’s just like one big family and we all have a great time. Plus, Schopp is the coach so it’s going to be fun!” Kristy Allen
The cross country team has already participated in two competitions with the next one scheduled to take place on September 29th in Zumbrota, which marks the midpoint of the season. “The Cross Country team is, believe it or not, always on the run. We never like to stay in the same place for more than 1 second” said Coach Ben Schopp. As the season enters the final stretch, look for the Bombers to be in full stride!
