This year’s homecoming started with a bang. Sunday, September 22nd the Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior girls competed in fun and aggressive football matches. The teams varied in number of players with Freshmen only having 11 people, Juniors and Seniors both having about 13 people, and Sophomores having 18 people.
Teams were divided into four colors Freshmen were green, Sophomores were purple, Juniors were blue, and Seniors were pink. The game was full of fun plays, some of which were named Gly, Glitter, Skibidi, Allen, Barry, Munch, Strawberry, and many more. Most teams found that the running plays worked better than throwing ones.
The Freshmen played hard all night, with only 11 people on the field they didn’t have any breaks. Although the Freshmen only scored once, they all had full smiles the whole game. Going against the Freshmen was the largest team, the Sophomores. When asked why she played again this year, Peyton Weise (A Sophomore) replied, “I decided to do Powderpuff again because even though we lost last year it was really fun!” Sophomores won the game with a score of 33-6.
A Junior, Hilari Palodichuk said, “Making it not so aggressive because there were a lot of injuries this year,” when asked what she would change about the games. Juniors sadly lost to the Seniors with a score of 46-6. The Seniors had won the game last year and were proud to beat the Juniors for a 2-0 win loss ratio. Both the Juniors and Seniors had about 13 or 14 players, and the Seniors had two sitting on the bunch due to injuries.
The night ended with Sophomore and Senior wins. All the teams played hard, and thanks to the amazing coaches from each grade, the teams had plays that worked for them. Everyone enjoyed the games and can’t wait to see what next year’s powderpuff brings.
