Prom 2021
Currently, prom is being rescheduled.
This year, the school decided to hold a prom. Prom was going to be on May 1st, but because of the many covid cases, it will be rescheduled. Originally, prom tickets were being sold at lunch for $20, but because of the shift to full-time, distance learning, students can now sign up through email and pay once they return to school.
The theme of the prom this year is Enchanted Garden, and the auditorium will be fully decorated for the Grand March. Students are allowed to wear whatever prom dresses and tuxes they like. The Grand March will start at 7 P.M. in the auditorium, and the dance will follow at 8 P.M in the gym. At 10 P.M. the dance will end. The prom committee is working as hard as they can to make sure the juniors and seniors have an amazing prom.
This year’s prom will be quite a bit different than past proms. The biggest difference is that the prom will be at the school. In the past, proms have been held at a venue where students have dinner. This year, they won’t be serving dinner. The dance will end at 10 instead of 11 P.M. The school is only allowing people who attend the school to go to the prom, meaning there will be no outside guests. Masks are required at all times unless the students are sitting at their table. In addition, they don’t have to wear their mask during the Grand March. “I’m looking forward to hanging out with friends, and I’m going to try to enjoy the night as much as possible since it will be my first and last prom,” senior Emilee Burr said.
This year and the past proms have many differences, however, it is great news that the juniors and seniors get to at least have a prom this year. “Even though prom looks different this year, I am very excited to be able to celebrate the end of the year as a group,” one of the prom advisers, Morgan Schwarz said.
