Purpose – Justin Bieber

Lantern reviews newest album from Justin Bieber

“Baby, baby, baby, oohh!”  Nearly everyone’s heard the 2010 pop hit that has been known to hold the record amount of 5.3 million dislikes on YouTube. With that being said, “Baby” was a significant addition to the well known singer Justin Bieber’s music career. The Canadian musician has released 4 studio albums, his fourth being Purpose.

“What Do You Mean” was the first single released from Purpose on August 28, 2015. This pop hit was Justin’s first song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Shortly after in October, the singer released his second single from the album “Sorry,” which also soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 as number two. Purpose came out on November 13, 2015, smashing multiple records as well, one being previously held by The Beatles. 17 of 18 songs on the album were on the top of the charts, “All In it” being the single song not being featured on the “Hot 100.”

18 tracks are on Purpose, all of which have a different feel to them. Some tracks are slow paced with an R&B style, others have an electric edge to them, and a couple even have a mix. “Love Yourself” along with “Purpose” are songs on the album that are acoustic, adding some variety. This album is definitely one of the most diverse of the year. Some songs are maybe a little too diverse to the point where the music isn’t very high quality, but the majority is impressive. Purpose is truly unique, and that might be the reason for the great success, along with the infinite number of dedicated “Beliebers” who support Bieber’s music.

Heaps of praise are being displayed on social media worldwide. Justin hasn’t put any content out for three years, yet the fans are stronger than ever. The artist’s recent album has also attracted new supporters with the music. All of the records now under Justin Bieber’s name are proof that the world is catching the cureless “Bieber Fever.”
