Riding the waves in the sea of blue
Cannon Falls FFA members are off to Indianapolis on October 25.
In the early hour of 5 a.m. on October 25, 11 Cannon Falls students will board a bus in Zumbrota headed to Indianapolis. These students, accompanied by their advisor, Duane Pliscott, are part of FFA, also known as Future Farmers of America and they are going to the 95th annual National FFA convention.
One student among them, Cameron Addington, is competing against speakers from all 50 states in Creed Speaking, where he recites the FFA creed. In order to compete at National Convention, Addington won first place at Minnesota’s FFA state convention last April.
Aside from watching Addington compete, the Cannon Falls spectators will watch keynote speakers, attend a concert and rodeo, and walk through a vendor fair. They will connect with hundreds of FFA members as part of the “sea of blue” at the convention, attended by approximately 50,000 FFA members nationwide. Additionally, on the bus rides to and from Indianapolis, the students will attend a few agricultural-related tours.
The students and their advisor will return on Saturday, October 29 with an abundance of memories and good times.
