Ringing in the holiday

December featured the annual Christmas choir concert

Bright red and green lights glowed on the stage along with a beautiful Christmas tree. Festively adorned, the Christmas tree had giant candy canes on top of it. Two holiday colored microphones sit front and center. The auditorium quickly became packed around 6:45, and people kept filling in. After a short introduction for the show from the choir director, Mrs. Franke, the jazz choir checks their microphones. Starting off with “Under The Tree,” a Kelly Clarkson hit, they set the bar high.

6th graders took the stage and shared their peppy voices, giving off a fun, youthful vibe. They brought some movement to the stage by singing and dancing to “The Candy Cane Twist.” The 7th and 8th grade combined group changed the mood up a bit by singing two songs in different languages. Brave, talented, and confident soloists and duets were up next. They were Mary Franz (Where Are you Christmas), Matt Breuer ( I Wonder As I Wander), Rachel Hartman (Merry Christmas Darling), Payton Cooper & Anna Schroeder (Minuet Noel), and last but not least Maddie Adel & Matt Lockett (Silent Night). The 9th grade choir took the stage afterwards. They only had 3 male vocalists, but the boys surely held their own. Concert choir sang three well-done pieces by themselves and then joined with the 9th graders for the last song of the night, “Let There Be Peace On Earth”. It was a festive way to end the concert.

Throughout the concert, Jane Peterson, Debbie Stark, Kathy Illa, and Jane Bracken accompanied the vocalists with their wonderful piano playing. The concert was an hour and a half of holiday spirit. It was a great way to ring in the start of Christmas break.
