On Wednesday, October 4th, Cannon Falls Area Schools will host its annual walk, roll, and bike to school day. Students and adults wishing to participate will meet in the city parking lot near the gazebo at 7:15. They will begin traveling towards the school at 7:20. The route is just over a mile and will get students to school on time.
Walk to School Day is a national event organized by the National Center for Safe Routes to School. By establishing the day, Safe Routes — and the individual schools that participate — celebrate the benefits of walking and biking, while also creating a feeling of community and creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for the school day.
Students of every grade — high school and elementary — parents, and all members of the school community are invited to walk along. The event is weather-dependent and will be canceled in the case of rain.
