The high school concert band performed at the HVL conference clinic
“Into the Storm,” by Robert W. Smith and “Prairie Songs,” by Pierre Laplante were the tunes played by the Cannon Falls concert band at the HVL band clinic in Zumbrota. This event took place on Wednesday, February 8th during the school day. Five other bands attended the clinic including Lake City, Pine Island, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Goodhue, and Zumbrota-Mazeppa. Those schools are preparing for the contest on February 28th. Cannon Falls got great advice and praise by a clinician for their performance. Later in the month, CF hopes to achieve a superior rating (the highest score) on the two songs. Director Mike Legvold reflects on Wednesday’s performance, “I believe that we will be well prepared for the contest on February 28th. The students are playing well, and we got some excellent feedback and suggestions at the clinic. The clinic went very smoothly.”
