Addison Wetterlund was working very hard on her project for art class. She was sculpting with clay and it was very hard to make it look perfect. Luckily, Wetterlund’s talented art teacher Mrs. Hernke is here to help make sure Wetterlund’s project looks perfect. After Hernke helps, Wetterlund’s project looked amazing. Hernke is willing to help each and every one of her students to make sure their projects look perfect and are turned in on time.
Hernke plays many important roles at Cannon Falls Middle School and High School. Her main roles at this school are teaching Art and Humanities. Hernke said, “My job covers many of the media of art such as painting, drawing, ceramics, art history, architecture, design, and others.” Hernke says her favorite part of the job is. “All the different types of art I get to teach students.” Hernke is an amazing teacher and loves that there are many ways to use different art materials and when her students teach her new things.
Hernke says she has some perks to her job in which she includes, “sharing my skills with students but also improving my own skills. There are many ways to use all the different art materials and sometimes students teach me new things.” Hernke says that is part of the reason she likes her job so much
Outside of school, Hernke is probably doing one of her many hobbies. Hernke says, “I have my own studio at home with a wheel, kiln, and slab roller.” Hernke is also an avid gardener — she has a vegetable garden and a pumpkin garden that has a you-pick pumpkin patch in the fall. Hernke says, “of course I am doing art, but my favorite medium is clay.”
Overall Mrs. Hernke is an amazing teacher and plays such an important role at our school. In her teaching Art and Humanities she helps students discover a new world for them to be creative in. She helps each and every student make sure they feel welcomed into the art world. She is such an amazing teacher and we definitely need her at Cannon Falls Middle School/High School.
