Softball season was a big hit

The 6th/7th grade softball team moved toward the end of their season with a resounding victory.

The swift swing and crack of the bat sends the softball flying. The player runs as fast as she can, but the other team catches the ball, and that’s the third out. The supporters groan softly and yell their encouragement, wishing better luck next time. Those are the sounds of a softball game, specifically the home one that took place in Cannon Falls on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Despite the unfortunate parts of the game, the seventh grade softball team enjoyed their time winning against Stewartville, the score 14-1. A group of 6th grade players made the team possible, and are no less capable of playing the game. It shows by the amount of wins the Bombers have gotten so far this year.
The whole team played remarkably well, and Riley Iverson, number 19 on the seventh grade team, shared her thoughts on the Bombers playing. “I think our team did awesome because we all did our best and we had amazing plays and great hits,” she said. Riley also recalled her favorite part of the game, which was taking out third base. “I had stolen and decided to slide a little late so I ended up on top of the base but instead of the base staying, it flew off and I was thankfully called safe.”
Despite having younger players than normal on the team, the softball team has had a successful season. However, it’s almost over, and the fun is coming to a close, and Alexzis Hoffman, number four, expresses her feelings about the near end of the sport. “I feel sad that it will end soon, and all the games are done, and practices. My team is going to end and won’t be together anymore. We have been doing really good; we have won almost all our games. I’m happy I got to play with a good team,” she proclaimed. The Bombers look forward to next years season, where they will no doubt have a good time, no matter what happens.
