FFA members didn’t let school being out stop them from being involved in the community. Members participated in various events, including the Chapter Banquet, Regional Officer Leadership Orientation (ROLO), the Cannon Valley fair, the 4th of July parade, Little Log House, Preparing Officers with Essential Resources (POWER), the Goodhue County fair, the State Leadership Conference for Chapter Leaders (SLCCL), the State Fair, the Miracle of Birth Center, harvesting and selling sweet corn, and an officer retreat.
To kick off the beginning of summer, FFA members and their families attended the end-of-the-year chapter banquet. Members were recognized for all their hard work and achievements from the 2024-2025 school year. Dawson Sanford, who is a Region VIII assistant officer, continued his leadership growth by starting his summer off by participating in ROLO and POWER with the Region VIII officer team. Emmy Addington also pushed herself out of her comfort zone by attending SLCCL in July.
Throughout July and August, FFA members were a part of working kiddie barnyard shifts at the Cannon Valley fair, Little Log House, and the Goodhue County fair. The chapter also had a float during the 4th of July parade. In the middle of August, the chapter officers even had a retreat. They worked on leadership skills, bonding as a team, and worked together to make the chapter’s program of activities.
Monnette and Lince Otterness had the opportunity to work with the Josephsons to harvest and sell sweet corn over the summer. They sell Bi-color corn as the specific variety name consists of numbers and letters. Lince stated, “My favorite part about selling sweet corn is sharing what I do with others and teaching them more about sweet corn.” Dawson Sanford and Hilari Palodichuk also had the opportunity to volunteer at the CHS Miracle of Birth Center at the state fair. At the same fair, Five members also participated in exhibiting livestock. Brent Carpenter said, “My favorite part of the state fair is getting to spend time with my animals before they go to market.” FFA members had a summer full of learning and opportunities.
Although there were all of these activities throughout the summer, it’s not all that these outstanding members did. Members also work on their supervised agricultural experiences and prepare for this school year. Now that school is back in session, FFA members are ready to continue their involvement, especially with the amount they did over the summer.
