The 2025 Cannon Falls Volleyball Team has started its season facing tough competition. The girls have battled hard and shown great improvement early on. The Bomber Volleyball program graduated eight important seniors last year and has welcomed a few underclassmen onto the varsity team. The Bombers are very different this year, but the girls have started to find their groove playing together on the court thanks to the strong bond they share.
The squad is led by four strong and talented captains: Seniors Falon Hepola and Abby Sjoblom, Junior Katie Tipton, and Sophomore Libby Sampson. The seniors selected the team slogan: “Stronger as One.” These simple words have helped the team tremendously, reminding them to play as one on the court, helping them succeed in intense matches, and push through tough practices.
Head Coach Melissa Huseth mentioned, “Although we compete to win, the ultimate goal is to be Stronger as One. In other words, success to me is loving to play the game with your teammates, working toward common goals with your best effort and attitude. We have goals in terms of postseason success, yet the road that gets you there is most important to me,” when asked how she defines success for this team. This season marks Huseth’s 21st year as head coach for Varsity Bomber Volleyball.
Senior captain Falon Hepola has committed to playing volleyball at UW-Stout in college. Hepola remarked, “I am very hopeful for this season because we have so much talent, and we all love each other a lot. Our bond and skills have been growing every time we step into the gym, and I can’t wait to see how amazing we are at the end of the season,” when asked about her expectations going into the season.
Senior captain Abby Sjoblom is looking forward to playing Zumbrota at home because she thinks they are a fun team to play. Abby said, “Three characteristics that a captain of a team needs to possess are leadership, positivity, and encouragement”—all of which she demonstrates.
The Bomber Volleyball team is filled with optimism this season, with Coach Huseth and senior captains Hepola and Sjoblom all speaking highly of this group. It’s the bond they share that makes this team so special. With plenty of the season yet to be played, the team is focused on finishing strong and picking up more wins.
