Finish near the top
Bomber football team ends its season in playoffs
With the coming of winter comes the end of the high school football season. Careers came to a close as the Cannon Falls Bombers’ winning streak was snapped by the Tri-City United Titans on October 20th. Despite the disappointing finish, the Bombers can be proud of what they accomplished over the year and of the run they made from the middle of the season until the end. They finished the year ranked tenth in state AAA.
Finishing the season with a three game winning streak that included homecoming-ruiners over Lake City and Kasson-Mantorville as well as an absolute demolition of Le Crescent that earned Cannon Falls the #4 seed, the Bombers repeated the thrashing the following Wednesday, expertly dismantling the Lancers to the tune of a runaway 56-21 victory. Advancing to the next round of sections were the Bombers, and set to face them were the #1 seeded Titans. Hopes were high, as the team had really found itself during the cinderella stretch. But the Bombers were unable to clear the hurdle, and the Titans shut them out 14-0. In a tough, all-around game, the Bombers lost to the 3rd ranked AAA team in the state. A late touchdown put the game out of reach for the Bombers.
Ending the season strong, the Bombers wish the best to all of their seniors, some of whose careers came to a close. “It was an honor playing with this team,” said captain Tanner Carlson.”
